hIn1066,theNormaninvadedandconqueredEngland.TheyalsobroughtwiththemakindofFrench,whichbecamethelanguageoftherulinga

ndbusinessclasses.Foraperiod,thelowerclassesspokeEnglishandtheupperclassesspokeFrench.Inthe14thcentury,Englishbecame

dominant(占优势的)inBritainagain,withmanyFrenchwordsadded.ThislanguageiscalledMiddleEnglish.LateModernEnglishThemaindifferencebetweenEarlyM
