ingskillsweredevelopedincludingdraftingandtheuseofsmokedpapers.BytheendoftheQingruling,however,papercuttingwasonceonthedeclinebecau
senewartformswerebeingintroduced.TheRepublicofChinalatertriedtorevivetheartinthe1980s.Today,papercut-outsarechieflydecorative.Theydecoratew
alls,windows,doors,columns,mirrors,lampsandlanternsinhomesandarealsousedonpresentsoraregivenasgiftsthemselves.Entran
