mmerPalaceisalsoknownforitsbeautifullandscape,withKunmingLake,LongevityHill,andtheGardenofVirtueandHarmony.Th

eSummerPalaceisasymbolofChinesetraditionalculture.ItisacombinationofChinesegardenartandimperialpalacearchitecture,andisamasterpieceofChinesetrad

itionalculture.Itisalsoaplaceofgreathistoricalandculturalsignificance,andhasbeenlistedasaWorldCulturalHeritageSite

byUNESCO.圆明园TheOldSummerPalace,alsoknownastheYuanmingyuan,isasymboloftraditionalChineseculture.Itwasbuiltinthemid-18thcenturyduringtherei

gnofEmperorQianlongoftheQingDynasty.ItislocatedinthenorthwestofBeijingandcoversanareaof3.5squarekilometers.Itisalarge-s

caleimperialgardenwithacombinationofChineseandWesternstyles.TheOldSummerPalaceisamasterpieceofChinesegardenart.Itisdividedintothreeparts:th

eoutercourt,theinnercourtandthewesterncourt.Theoutercourtisalarge-scalegardenwithavarietyofplantsandflowers,andavar

ietyofpavilions,terraces,towersandcorridors.Theinnercourtisapalacecomplexwithavarietyofpalaces,pavilions,terracesandtowers.Thewesterncourtisacomb

inationofChineseandWesternstyles,withavarietyofEuropean-stylebuildings.TheOldSummerPalaceisatreasuretroveofChineseculture.I

tishometoavarietyofculturalrelics,includingthebronzeanimalsculptures,themarbleboat,thestonecarvings,thecalligr

aphyandpaintings,andtheancientbooks.Itisalsohometoavarietyofrareplantsandanimals.TheOldSummerPalaceisasymboloftraditionalChineseculture.Itisapla

ceofgreathistoricalandculturalsignificance,andamust-seeforvisitorstoBeijing.少林寺ShaolinTemple,locatedinDengfeng

City,HenanProvince,isoneofthemostfamousBuddhisttemplesinChina.Itisrenownedforitslonghistoryandprofoundculture.ItisalsothebirthplaceofChineseZenBud

dhismandtheShaolinmartialarts.ShaolinTemplewasfoundedin495ADduringtheNorthernWeiDynasty.ItwasfirstbuilttohousetheIndianmonkBatuo,whowasinvitedtoChi

natospreadBuddhism.Overthecenturies,ShaolinTemplehasbecomeamajorcenterofChineseBuddhismandmartialarts.Ithasattractedmanyf

amousmonksandmartialartists,includingthelegendarymonkBodhidharma.TheShaolinmartialarts,alsoknownasWushu,isacombinationofph

ysicalexerciseandmeditation.ItissaidtohaveoriginatedfromthemartialartspracticedbythemonksofShaolinTemple.Itischaracterizedbyitsf

astandpowerfulmovements,andiswidelypracticedinChinaandaroundtheworld.ShaolinTempleisalsorenownedforitsbeautifulscenery.Itis

surroundedbylushgreenmountainsandvalleys,andishometomanyancientbuildings,includingtheHallofHeavenlyKings,theMahaviraHall,andt

hePagodaForest.ShaolinTempleisasymbolofChinesecultureandapopulartouristdestination.Itisaplaceofpeaceandtranquility,andareminderoftheimportanceoftra

ditionalChineseculture.黄鹤楼Huanghelou,locatedintheancientcityofWuhan,isafamousbuildinginChinesetraditionalculture.Iti

rthwestofBeijing.Itisalarge-scaleimperialgardenbuiltbyEmperorQianlongintheQingDynasty.Itisacombinationofgardens,pavilions,towers,bridg

esandotherbuildings.Itisaperfectcombinationofman-madeandnaturalbeauty.LushanMountainislocatedinthesouthofJiangxiProvince.Itisoneofthemostfamoussumm

esPeriod.Itistheoldestandmostsuccessfulirrigationsystemintheworld.Dujiangyaniscomposedofthreeparts:theFishMouth,theFlyingSandWeirandtheSpillw

ftheimportanceofwaterconservation.云岗石窟TheYungangGrottoes,locatedinDatongCity,ShanxiProvince,China,iso

neofthemostfamousancientBuddhistgrottoesintheworld.ItisamasterpieceofChineseBuddhistart,andislistedasaWorldCulturalHeritageSitebyUNESCO.T

heYungangGrottoeswerebuiltintheNorthernWeiDynasty(386-534AD).Itiscomposedof252grottoes,withmorethan51,000stonestatues,rangingfrom1centi

meterto17metersinheight.Thestatuesarevividandlifelike,andthecarvingsareexquisiteanddelicate.Thegrottoesaredividedintofiveparts,eachof

whichhasitsowncharacteristics.TheYungangGrottoesarenotonlyatreasurehouseofChineseBuddhistart,butalsoasymboloftheculturalexcha

seengineering,andithasbeenlistedasaWorldHeritageSitebyUNESCO.TheGrandCanalwasfirstbuiltinthe5thcenturyBC,anditwasextendedandimprovedoverth

ecenturies.ItisamajorarteryofcommunicationandtransportationinancientChina,connectingtheYellowRiverandtheYangtzeRiver,andconnectingthen

orthernandsouthernpartsofthecountry.Itisalsoanimportantwaterconservancyproject,providingirrigationforthevastagricultural

areasalongitsbanks.TheGrandCanalisasymbolofChinesecivilizationandculture.Ithaswitnessedtheriseandfallofdynasties,andhasbeenawitnesstothedevelop

mentofChinesesociety.莫高窟TheMogaoGrottoes,locatedintheDunhuangCityofGansuProvince,isoneofthemostfamousBuddhistgrottoesinCh

ina.ItisalsoknownastheThousand-BuddhaCaves,asitcontainsmorethan2,000statuesofBuddhaandover45,000squaremetersofmurals.TheMogaoGrottoeswere

firstbuiltinthe4thcenturyandhavebeencontinuouslyexpandedandrenovatedoverthecenturies.Thegrottoesaredividedintotwoparts:theeastand

thewest.TheeastpartismainlycomposedofBuddhiststatues,whilethewestpartismainlycomposedofmurals.ThemuralsdepictthestoriesofBudd

hism,aswellasthedailylifeofthepeopleinancienttimes.TheMogaoGrottoesareatreasuretroveofBuddhistartandculture.Itisagreatplacetolearnaboutthehist

oryandcultureofancientChina.TheMogaoGrottoesarenowaUNESCOWorldHeritageSiteandareopentothepublic.乐山大佛TheLeshan

GiantBuddha,locatedinLeshanCity,SichuanProvince,istheworld'slargeststoneBuddhastatue.ItiscarvedonthecliffofLingyunMountainintheeast

ofLeshanCity.Itis71metershighandhasahistoryofmorethan1,200years.ItisamasterpieceofChineseancientsculptureart.TheLe

shanGiantBuddhaisasittingBuddhastatue.ItissaidthatthestatuewasbuiltbyamonknamedHaitongintheTangDynasty.HewantedtocalmtheturbulentwatersoftheMinji

angRiverandprotectthelocalpeoplefromthedangeroffloods.Aftermorethan90yearsofhardwork,thestatuewasfinallycompleted.TheLeshanGiantBuddhaisasymb

olofChinesecultureandart.Itisalsoaworldculturalheritage.Everyyear,manytouristsfromallovertheworldcometovisit

theLeshanGiantBuddha.Itisamust-seefortouristswhocomeChina.赵州桥TheZhaozhouBridge,alsoknownastheAnjiBridge,isaChin

esebridgelocatedinZhaoxianCounty,HebeiProvince.Itistheoldestopen-spandrelstonesegmentalarchbridgeintheworld,andisconside

redtheworld'sfirstfullyfunctionalopen-spandrelstonebridge.Builtintheyear605ADduringtheSuiDynasty,thebridgehasatotallengthof37met

ersandawidthof9.6meters.Itiscomposedof28stonearches,eachwithaspanof3.4meters.Thebridgeisconstructedwithauniquecombinationofstoneandw

ood,andissupportedbyaseriesofstonepiers.Thebridgeisrenownedforitselegantdesignandremarkabledurability,havingwithstoodthetestoftimef

orover1,400years.ItisatestamenttotheingenuityofChineseengineeringandisapopulartouristattraction.大雁塔TheGreatWildGo

osePagoda,locatedintheancientcityofXi'an,isoneofthemostfamouslandmarksinChina.Itwasbuiltin652ADduringtheTangDynasty,andisa

houseBuddhistscripturesandartifactsbroughttoChinafromIndiabythemonkXuanzang.Itwasalsousedasaplaceofworshipandmeditation.Today,thepagodai

samuseum,andvisitorscanexploreitsmanygalleriesandexhibits.TheGreatWildGoosePagodaisasymbolofChinesecultureandhistory,andisamust-seeforanyonevisit

ingXi'an.Itisareminderofthecity'srichpast,andatestamenttothepoweroffaithanddevotion.
